How we research
This site does specification comparison. That is a specific discipline with specific limits, and it is different from showroom assessment or hands-on review. Here is exactly what we do, what we don't, and how we label the difference.
What we publish
- Manufacturer-published specifications only. Every dimension on this site is copied from a manufacturer or retailer product page, with a link to that page and the date we checked it. If a spec is missing or its source cannot be confirmed, we mark it needs checking instead of estimating it. Previously transcribed Valencia figures are withheld while source verification is unresolved.
- Whole-configuration widths. A "three-seat" width on this site is the manufacturer's published width for an actual three-seat arrangement. When a page only publishes per-seat width plus console math, we quote that rule verbatim rather than multiplying it out for you, because arm styles and consoles change the total.
- Explicit open questions. Each configuration carries a list of what is missing — reclined depth, doorway-relevant dimensions, exact clearance — so you know what to ask the seller before ordering.
What we don't do (yet)
- We have not showroom-tested these seats, and we don't rate comfort.
- We have not measured any seat ourselves. If we ever publish an independently measured number, it will be labeled "independently measured" with the measurement conditions — everything else is manufacturer-published.
- We don't assess delivery access for your home. Boxed dimensions and stair turns are yours to measure; our doorway checklist walks you through it.
- We don't track live prices. Listed prices are captured on the date shown and always say so.
How results are judged
The finder compares one number against one number: your available row width against the published width of an arrangement. A "fits width" result means exactly that and nothing more. Recline clearance, doorway access, riser depth, and viewing distance are separate checks, and the finder labels the ones each product leaves open rather than hiding them behind a green badge.
Keeping it current
Product pages get revised and specs drift. Every entry shows the date we checked it. There is no automatic update feed. Before a new check date is recorded, the source and exact arrangement must be checked again. Unconfirmed figures stay withheld. If you spot a figure that no longer matches the source page, that correction is welcome — accuracy is the product.
